Do I need to read music? No. Many of our singers don’t read music. We learn together, often by ear, with plenty of repetition and support.

I haven’t sung in years—can I still join? Absolutely. Leytonstone Voices is for anyone who enjoys singing, regardless of experience or confidence level.

Is there a performance? We usually work towards a performance each term, but there’s no pressure—joining for the joy of weekly singing is completely valid.

Can I try one session first? We offer a discounted price for your first session so you can pop along and see what we’re all about. Head here to get booked on to a rehearsal.

Can I join at any point in the year? Yes — you’re welcome to join us at any time. The start of a new term is usually the best moment to hop in, as that’s when we begin learning our new repertoire together, but you’re always welcome whenever you’re ready to sing.

What happens if I can’t come every week? We do encourage weekly rehearsals because it helps the choir grow together and keeps everyone confident with the repertoire. But we also know that life happens — work, kids, illness, unexpected plans — and it’s not always possible to make every session. That’s why we offer a drop‑in ticket option, and we provide plenty of learning resources (including tracks and materials on ChoirMate) so you can catch up at home and still feel connected, even on the weeks you can’t be there. You’re always welcome, whether it’s every Thursday or whenever life allows.

Is there parking at the venue? There is a small car park on site, but we share the space with the John Ongom Big Band, so the parking spots are usually full by the time rehearsals start. The good news is that we’re really well connected — just a short walk from Leytonstone Tube, the Overground, and plenty of bus routes on the High Road. You’re also very welcome to bring bikes inside, so cycling is a great option too.
